Slum, Sex and Nagpur

According to Govt Of India census carried out in 2001, Nagpur was 12th biggest city in India populationwise . A recent complied  population study indicates that Nagpur has climbed up the ladder . In  2006,  Nagpur  gained 7th position with population crossing 4 million. It has 4th rank in slum population , indicating the strength of direct working or serving population.

Surprisingly, Nagpur has joined elite club due to its increasing female population.  Over the years this privilege was enjoyed by South Indian cities. The population of females compared to males is also growing in Nagpur . Nagpur has gained position of 3rd highest in sex ratio after Chennai and Hyderabad. 

The life style changes like consumption pattern  in the City follows Metros areas due to  rising income levels and favourable socio-economic indicators . The corporation has tied up belts for effective development of the city and its plan was  awarded all India level , subsequesntly  centre has granted funds to the tune of  3000 crores through  Urban Renewal Commission .

NIT (Nagpur Improvement trust) is already giving shape to the city through ecological perspective, the quality of life seems to have improved considerably in last decade. The city is known as second greenest city of India. Nagpur has wider Roads connected to several decentralised commercial nucleuses , leaving little scope for traffic congestion.
